In 2016, Nordea established a pan-Baltic Economic Review Department, which will be managed by the current Nordea Lithuania Chief Economist Žygimantas Mauricas. In addition to Žygimantas, the Baltic analysis team also includes Estonia`s Chief Economist Tõnu Palm and Latvia`s Economist Gints Belevics.

“The department was established to coordinate the economic and market analysis process effectively and to use Baltic and the entire Nordea Group`s experience efficiently. Baltic countries will become a part of Nordea`s global economic review team, which operates across the world in 19 countries. This is an important step, which helps us respond to market changes faster and provide more in-depth analyses to our customers,“ said Žygimantas Mauricas.

The new Department will cooperate more with Nordea`s global economic review team and analyses and research outcomes will be published on Nordea Group`s economic review page nexus.nordea.com. Local customers will also be provided more thorough Baltic and global economic analyses; local markets` economists will work closely together and share their experiences not only on the Baltic level but also on the domestic level.

Žygimantas Mauricas began work as Nordea`s Chief Economist in 2011. His tasks were to analyse the Lithuanian and other Baltic countries` macro economy and financial markets. Before joining Nordea, Žygimantas was the Deputy Head of Financial Stability at the Bank of Lithuania Economic Department and Head of the Curriculum of the Master`s Studies at the ISM Management and Economics University.
