Nordea has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe, effective 21st September 2015. It is the sixth consecutive time that Nordea has been named on the list since 2012.

The 'Ethibel Pioneer and Excellence Investment Registers Forum ETHIBEL’ selects companies playing a pioneering or leading role in their sector in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility. The selection is based on a best-in-class approach combined with a number of predefined exclusionary criteria. The organisation researches and reviews companies twice a year to establish to their results.

Liisa Jauri, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Nordea is pleased at the continued recognition: "We're happy that the work we're undertaking across Nordea is being recognized positively by an independent organization like Forum ETHIBEL. We're aware that it's an ongoing process but we see this as confirmation that we're making the right decisions towards contributing to a sustainable future, not only for Nordea, but also our stakeholders in general."

According to responsible business practice principles and assessment of independent parties, this year Nordea was awarded the Golden category among 73 Latvian companies, including five companies in the financial sector, and also repeatedly has received the recognition “Family-Friendly Merchant” awarded by the RoL Ministry of Welfare to employers with family- and child-friendly policies and services and the recognition “Company Equal in Gender Rights”.

This year, Nordea Bank issued its fourth annual report on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Nordea's Latvia Branch, which describes the bank's CSR strategy and implemented activities, as well as goals and main tasks to be fulfilled.

Forum ETHIBEL is a Belgian independent association, created in 1992 and recognized as an expert in rating, independent audits and certification of products and services that meet ESG and ethical standards. Forum ETHIBEL aims for a business model, that respects the balance between economic progress, social fairness and gives due attention to the environment.
