Please be informed that from October 5, 2025, Luminor Payment Rules will change.
The changes are related to the European Union regulation concerning instant credit transfers in euro, referred to as the Instant Payments Regulation, and will mainly set rules for instant credit transfers, known as instant payments. One of the main changes being introduced, which will provide additional security for your payments, is the verification of the payee. Before confirming a payment in euros to a European Union member state whose currency is the euro, we will automatically check whether the payee you specified matches the account number (IBAN) you provided. We will also perform payee verification in other cases where it is supported by the bank of the payee (or payment service provider).
When we carry out the verification of the payee, you will see a notification about the result of the verification: whether the name of the payee matches the specified account number. This notification will indicate whether the payee information is correct (matches), incorrect (does not match), or contains minor discrepancies (partially matches).
You will be able to proceed with the payment regardless of the payee verification result. However, to avoid fraudulent cases and the risk of funds being credited to an account that does not belong to your intended payee, and to prevent losses, we encourage you to assess the risks and exercise caution if the payee information cannot be verified or if the verification reveals that the name of the payee does not match the specified account number.
More information about the changes to Payment Rules can be found here.
If you agree to the changes, you don’t need to take any action – the changes will take effect on 5 October 2025.
If you don’t agree to the changes, you have the right to withdraw from the service contracts affected by these changes immediately and free of charge. In this case, you must notify us in writing before 5 October 2025 and fulfil the obligations arising from these service contracts.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that starting from 5 October 2025, you will be able to set your preferred instant payment limit. By default, the instant payment limit will be the same as your current payment limit. No additional action is required. However, if you wish to change the existing limit, you will be able to do so at any time free of charge via your internet bank.
