As of 3 December, Nordea together with the “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre and photographer Andrejs Zavadskis invite you to a holiday photo exhibition at “Kolonāde” restaurant at 26 Brīvības Boulevard, Riga. The exhibition’s theme is “Contrasts. Nature and Urban Environments. The Other Beauty.” and features double exposure photography. It will be open to the public until 30 December.

For eleven years, Nordea has supported children from the “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre in acquiring new knowledge and skills, which are then used to make special holiday greetings. This year, the art of photography was mastered under the guidance of photographer Andrejs Zavadskis, eternalising natural landscapes of Ķemeri Marsh and urban views of Old Riga. Using double exposure photography, photographs were merged into a single picture, combining contrasts — intact nature and urban environments.

Andrejs Zavadskis, photographer: “Double exposure is a photography technique that creates a feeling of surrealism and merges different stories into a single picture by combining different compositions. During the photography master class, the children showed great enthusiasm while searching for interesting and exciting shots. The results were impressive, which was also evident by the children's excitement about the work they carried out.”

Jānis Buks, head of Nordea Latvia: “This is a special tradition that has united Nordea and the “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre for many years. It's clear that financial support helps evaluate how employee's time is spent, and also facilitates colleague cooperation on every incentive implemented year-round. We are happy that our holiday greeting is also recognised and appreciated by our clients. For the fifth year, the premiere of the holiday greeting was organised during the special Nordea Private Banking Charity Dinner with “Lejasstrazdi” children and the money collected this year will once again be used for charity.”

Solvita Eihe, head of the Family Support Centre: “One of the most effective ways to encourage children to show interest in different forms of art and gain a wider perspective is mastering practical skills. We are happy that during the master classes with photographer Andrejs Zavadskis and Nordea employees, the children showed genuine interest in taking a crack at photography and participating in the preparation of exhibition materials. There were children who expressed a wish to become photographers right after the master class, which suggests that photography is both exciting and useful.”

The “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre in the Dobele Parish is home to children 2–18 years old, who are not under the care of their parents. We invite you to make donations to the account of the “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre: Reg. No.: 90000028495, Donation account: LV73UNLA0006001142723.

About the holiday greeting

Nordea started its cooperation with the “Lejasstrazdi” Family Support Centre in 2004. For eleven years in a row — this year, in cooperation with photographer Andrejs Zavadskis and printing service provider “fineArtPrint.lv” — a special holiday gift has been created every year. Artists and heads of creative workshops teach the children new skills and help them to discover various new talents. Last year, with the help of confectioner Anna Birmane (Anna Panna) and improvisational theatre actor Kaspars Breidaks, the children mastered the art of cooking; in previous years, repairs were carried out at the “Lejasstrazdi” orphanage with the help of TV stars Anna Rozīte and Kaspars Zlidnis, a song was composed with musician Goran Gora, a cartoon was created with artist and animator Dace Liepa, and tasty festive meals were prepared with chef Lauris Aleksejevs. The song “You are one of us” (Tu esi viens no mums) was also performed with Mārtiņš Freimanis, a photo calendar was created with photographer Valts Kleins, bookmarks were made with painter Kaspars Zariņš and a special holiday calendar, “31jaunadiena.lv”, was created with the portal “Pasakas.net” portal.
