In order to develop a new wind park and ensure alternative ways of generating electricity, the company “Vides Enerģija” is going to purchase “Enercon” wind turbine generators. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to increase the total power, supplying electricity for up to 20,000 households. Nordea has granted 6.4 million euro for financing the project.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to purchase three “Enercon” wind turbine generators. Altogether they are able to generate up to 6.9 MWh of power, sufficient to ensure electricity for almost 20,000 households. The company “Vides Enerģija” will sell the electricity generated by the wind turbine generators to “Enerģijas publiskais tirgotājs”, a subsidiary of “Latvenergo”, which will ensure the supply of electricity to consumers.

It is planned to complete the project by the end of 2016 in order to promote the implementation of a European Union Directive, which plans for reductions in the amount of carbon emissions generated by the electricity market by 20% by the year 2020.

“Raising the efficiency of the use of energy resources and energy, while ensuring principles of environmentally friendly energy supply, determines and develops in a longer perspective national welfare and economic competitiveness. I am grateful that Nordea keeps supporting strategically important projects which conform to the principles of the bank’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability. This is an important move with a huge potential for further development,” says Jānis Buks, Head of Nordea bank in Latvia.
